Asked whether the concerned parties would be willing to leave an
impasse in their negotiations on the issue, Rop reiterated his
cabinet's stand that the Ljubljanska Bank question was part of the
problem of succession to the former Yugoslav federation (SFRY), and
should therefore be solved by countries-successors where
depositors live, rather than by the old Ljubljanska Bank.
Rop believes that bilateral talks between individual countries-
successors and Slovenia can offer a solution to the problem, after
Croatia ratifies the Vienna succession agreement.
"I hope that Croatia, too, will ratify the Vienna agreement and that
it will serve as a good basis for negotiations," said Rop, whose
interview was also relayed by the Slovene news agency STA.
