ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - At the beginning of its session on Thursday, the Croatian parliament supported a draft strategy for the development of science in Croatia in the 21st century, which was debated yesterday. The draft was endorsed
by a majority vote.

the Croatian parliament supported a draft strategy for the
development of science in Croatia in the 21st century, which was

Presenting the draft, Deputy Science and Technology Minister
Zdenko Franic said in parliament Wednesday the government-
sponsored strategy was a vision of science system development which
would ensure the leading role of science in Croatia's long-term
development.
A government bill on the liability of companies for criminal acts
was sent into the third reading. According to the bill, companies
could be held criminally responsible, which would be a precedent.
Benches of both the opposition and the ruling coalition endorsed
the recommendation of the Committee for the Legislature and
Judiciary that the bill be sent into the third reading. They
described some provisions as ambiguous, even as exceeding the
commitments set by the European Union.
Parliament resumed its session with a debate on a bill on textbook
standards.
