ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - Chinese President Jiang Zemin said in a letter forwarded to Croatian head of state Stjepan Mesic that over the last several months new and firm progress had been made in the China-Croatia relations which are
based on equality, mutual trust and interest.

According to a statement issued by Mesic's office on Tuesday,
China's president thanked Mesic on letters of congratulations
forwarded on the occasion of Jiang's re-election as president of
the central military commission.
The Chinese president announced that the new generation of the
Chinese leadership would continue to build friendship with
Croatia. Jiang also thanked Mesic on an invitation to visit
Croatia.
