Health Minister Andro Vlahusic reiterated that the union, when
insisting on a 45-percent rise in doctors' salaries, was
blackmailing the patients and the government.
The union turns down the government's proposal for a 10-percent
rise in salaries and the payment for specific conditions in
doctors' workplace, which would actually raise the wages of some
doctors by 20 percent, Vlahusic said.
The government cannot accept a draft agreement which the union has
drawn up and on which it insists, Vlahusic said.
The union's leader, Ivica Babic, said the HSLS would stick to its
demands and in the continuation of negotiations it would ask the
government to give assurances, as the union was dissatisfied with
the manner in which Minister Vlahusic had behaved in the
negotiations to date.
Babic said the health ministry had offered solutions on principle
at the negotiations they had so far held.
