Vojvodina cannot become hostage of an irresponsible policy of
federal and republic authorities, so the Assembly should pass a
declaration "to distance itself from the negative attitude towards
the Hague tribunal and demand that competent state bodies fulfil
their international and legal obligations," representatives of the
NGOs said.
"One must put a stop to this practice" under which Yugoslavia's
cooperation with the tribunal "has been exclusively reduced to
trade with the aim to obtain international financial assistance,"
they added.
"The new authorities are working to the disadvantage of citizens by
failing to inform the public about the fact that war crimes were
committed and that individuals must answer for it," the director of
Novi Sad's Centre for Regionalism, Aleksandar Popov, said.
