as one of rapporteurs of the UNCHR office for 2003.

on Monday appointed the charge d'affaires of the Croatian permanent
mission to the UN in Geneva, Branko Socanac, as one of rapporteurs
of the UNCHR office for 2003. #L#
The Croatian mission to the UN in Geneva reported on Tuesday that
Socanac was appointed to this function as a candidate proposed by
the eastern European group in the UN, whose co-ordinator he has been
so far.
In this way, Croatia has become part of the composition of the 59th
sitting of the UNCHR, and will be able to take part in the decision-
making of this body.
Diplomat Socanac is the first Croat to have been elected to this
post.
