BELGRADE, Jan 20 (Hina) - The main defence attorney for former Serb President Milan Milutinovic, who voluntarily travelled to The Hague on Monday and surrendered to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, will
be a British lawyer, John Livingstone, who, as was said on Belgrade's Radio B92, took over the defence at Milutinovic's request.
BELGRADE, Jan 20 (Hina) - The main defence attorney for former Serb
President Milan Milutinovic, who voluntarily travelled to The
Hague on Monday and surrendered to the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, will be a British lawyer, John
Livingstone, who, as was said on Belgrade's Radio B92, took over the
defence at Milutinovic's request. #L#
He said that he took the case because he was interested in
Milutinovic's position. He said that he had met with his new client
last summer and again last week. The British lawyer said that the
case would be difficult and that he would follow the instructions of
his client.
Livingstone had represented Bosnian Serb Dusko Tadic in an appeal
procedure before the ICTY and was the defence attorney for Bosnian
Croat Vladan Kupreskic who was later acquitted.
Hague doctors on Tuesday will conduct a medical examination of the
former Serb President to establish his condition which the Belgrade
government claimed as being quite poor.
