ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - Based on criteria set by the Croatian Olympics Committee (HOO), the most successful Croatian woman athlete in 2002 was Janica Kostelic for her four Olympic medals of which three were gold. The best athlete man
of the year award went to swimmer Gordan Kozulj for his first and third place in the European Championships.

athlete in 2002 was Janica Kostelic for her four Olympic medals of
which three were gold. The best athlete man of the year award went to
swimmer Gordan Kozulj for his first and third place in the European

The awards were granted on Monday evening at a traditional evening
entitled "A Great Day for Croatian Sport" which was held under the
auspices of President Stjepan Mesic in Zagreb's Vatroslav Lisinski
hall in honour of January 17, 1992 when the HOO was accepted into the
international Olympics family.
