ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - The president of the Board of Directors of
Croatia's Nacional weekly, Ivo Pukanic, on Friday said for the
prime time news on national television that he could accept the
accusations against the weekly made by Ivica Kostelic when he
apologised to the domestic and world public. #L#
Hailing Kostelic's apology, Pukanic claimed that Nacional had
acted absolutely properly with regard to the Ivica Kostelic affair
both professional and politically.
He added that Ivica Kostelic "has to understand that he is an idol
not only to young people in Croatia but much further and that any
public appearance or statement could have serious ramifications on
the behaviour and thinking of young people".
Pukanic therefore concluded: "I would like to advise the Croatian
public that Nacional did not make anything up but just wrote a very
proper article based on facts - TV recordings and a CD with the
entire interview recorded in which Ivica Kostelic speaks about and
reminisces on account of Nazism and Fascism.
