Visitors and those interested in holidays in Croatia mostly
inquired about travel and holiday prices, while businessmen and
journalists were mostly interested in the offer, the privatisation
of tourist facilities, infrastructure and transport connections,
Zeljko Toncic, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board's Vienna
office, said on Sunday.
This October Croatia's Dubrovnik will host the annual assembly of
Austria's association of travel agencies.
Austrian media stressed today that Croatia is Austrians' favourite
destination.
"Croatia stands as the safest country in the Mediterranean," said
the Kurier daily, adding Croatia led also in terms of environmental
protection.
A research conducted by Yale and Columbia universities ranked
Croatia 12th in terms of environment preservation efforts. Spain
was 40th, Greece 60th and Italy 84th.
According to Die Presse, Croatia will be the winner of this year's
summer season. It said that despite rising prices, which last year
jumped by 35 percent in comparison to 2001, Croatia would remain the
favourite tourist destination for Austrians.
