Sixty-two percent of senior schools worked, 25 percent worked
partially, while 13 percent were on strike.
This information, as presented by Minister Vladimir Strugar,
greatly differs from that given by the union, which has stated that
some 50 percent of union members, or 6,012 employees, took part in
the strike.
Strugar told reporters that the cause for the bad turnout was "the
inflation of strikes in education which yield no results".
Moreover, said Strugar, employees in education have recognised the
government's efforts and the unrealistic requests of the unions.
The ministry officials reiterated that the time spent on strike
would not be paid, while principals will decrease the salary mass in
accordance with the list of participants in the strike.
The officials also said that schools were obliged to compensate for
missed classes, in line with a model which they themselves are to
set.
