Nine Croatians in South Asia still uncounted for

ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - According to the latest reports, 60 Croatiannationals, who happened to be in South Asia at the time of Sunday'searthquake near Sumatra which caused giant waves known as tsunami, arealive and well, and there is still no information about another nineCroatians, five of whom were in Thailand, an official of the CroatianForeign Ministry said on Wednesday.
ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - According to the latest reports, 60 Croatian nationals, who happened to be in South Asia at the time of Sunday's earthquake near Sumatra which caused giant waves known as tsunami, are alive and well, and there is still no information about another nine Croatians, five of whom were in Thailand, an official of the Croatian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, the ministry reported that a three year-old Croatian girl, Vivian Slot, was found dead in Thailand. The media earlier reported that Vivian Slot, a granddaughter of the head of Zagreb University, Helena Jasna Mencer, had disappeared in a tidal wave in the town of Krabi in Thailand. The child's mother suffered a serious injury to her lung and had to undergo an operation in a local hospital.

There have been no reports about other Croatian citizens who may have been killed in the disaster.

According to the latest reports of world agencies, the death toll in South Asia has risen to over 66,000.
