ZAGREB, Dec 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry has contacted
its diplomatic offices in Asia to check if any Croatian citizens have died in
the earthquake and tidal waves which struck the south of the continent on
Sunday morning, and there is no information so far about Croatian casualties,
ministry spokesman Dobroslav Silobrcic told Hina.Croatian embassies in Indonesia, which also covers Thailand, and in
India, which also covers Sri Lanka, have contacted local hospitals and there
has been no information about Croatian victims.
It has been established that no tourist group from Croatia was in one of
the areas struck by the disaster, although sources at the Foreign Ministry
underline there is no information about tourists visiting on their own.
The strongest quake to hit the world in the last 40 years rocked
Southeast Asia on Sunday morning, causing tsunamis high up to 10 metres and
claiming at least 10,200 lives. Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka have been hit
the hardest.
