ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - The Croatian consortium Croatia Mobile will request the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development to investigate the work of the Telecommunications Agency Council because it believes that in assessing bids for the third mobile operator, the Council violated the Law on Telecommunications.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the consortium said that before the best bidder was selected Croatia Mobile was not allowed to state its position on facts which were of relevance for the final decision or to submit the necessary documents and evidence.

The consortium claims that the basis for their request is violation of the confidentiality of documents, which it says were leaked to the press.

Croatia Mobile consists of 12 Croatian companies and Group 100, which gathers foreign investors.

The Telecommunications Agency Council yesterday awarded a combined operating licence for the third mobile operator to the Swedish-Croatian company Tele 2. The offers of the other two bidders - Croatia Mobile and Match Telecom - were not considered because they were found to lack valid bank guarantees, which was one of the requirements.

Match Telekom yesterday also requested a probe into the bidding procedure.

Transport and Development Minister Bozidar Kalmeta said for Croatian Television last night that the ministry would review the procedure as soon as it received requests to that effect.
