The statement reads the HDZ does not wish to interfere in another country's legislation but does not accept a revision of history that is in complete contrast to the values of contemporary Europe. The statement says contemporary Europe was founded on anti-fascism, which is why the HDZ finds that glorifying fascist movements in unacceptable.
The Serbian Parliament yesterday adopted under urgent procedure a law giving members of the 1941-45 Chetnik movement the same rights enjoyed by the partisans, including rights to pension and disability allowance.
The law was moved by the Serbian Revival Movement leader and Foreign Minister, Vuk Draskovic. It received the votes of 176 of a total of 250 members of Parliament.
The law was passed with the explanation that it was grounded in historical truth.
