At the meeting, a project was presented according to which the Croatian armed forces would be provided with state-of-the-art tactical and operational radiocommunications equipment on the basis of an agreement on the transfer of technology between the French company Thales and the Croatian Naval Electronics Centre.
The project is estimated at 27 million euros. The Split-based Naval Electronics Centre will cover about 51 per cent of the cost, and all the equipment will be produced in Croatia.
The implementation of this project will ensure modern equipment for the Defence Ministry, the engagement of the domestic manufacturer, the employment of technical experts, the transfer of technology and the development of the Croatian firm, and will also open export possibilities.
With this act, France, as one of the leading EU and NATO countries, recognises Croatia as a factor of stability in Southeast Europe, and respects, recognises and supports Croatia's efforts and determination to meet all the necessary criteria for admission to the European Union and NATO, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
