Democratic Union (HDZ) expelled Town Council President Davor Aras from party
membership on Tuesday for causing political damage to the party.Aras was expelled from the HDZ on the basis of the party statute for his
involvement in "activities contrary to the political interests and platform of
the HDZ," party spokesman Ratko Macek said.
On Monday, Aras attended a gathering of the Croatian Homeguard
association whose members displayed photographs of the leader of the Nazi-style
WWII Ustasha regime, Ante Pavelic, and wore Ustasha insignia.
