"The main points of the (OSCE) mandate are being dealt with at the moment, and Croatia, as a candidate country for EU membership, now expects fruitful cooperation until the successful completion of the mission," Zuzul said in his opening remarks at the second plenary session of the 12th OSCE ministerial conference in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia.
"I am confident that we are able to convey the experience we have gained to other areas where this can be of assistance, either as part of OSCE activities or in other institutions such as the EU," Zuzul said.
The Croatian foreign minister spoke of major tasks standing before the OSCE, including the continuation of the fight against terrorism, international crime, and all forms of illegal trade.
Speaking of the OSCE, Zuzul underlined its unique role as a forum for dialogue, building of confidence and cooperation in areas of common interest.
Zuzul said that Croatia "feels particular responsibility" for the stabilisation and progress of the region of Southeast Europe, and that, being a candidate for membership in the EU and NATO, it would step up its efforts to that effect.
In achieving the common goals in the region -- joining the EU and NATO on the basis of individual achievements -- Croatia is determined to resolve all outstanding issues, including those relating to refugees, missing persons and full cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal, the Croatian foreign minister said.
