Semneby said that the OSCE had recorded progress in Croatia and that in this regard it expected a new form of cooperation with Croatia. He pointed out that the OSCE wanted to see refugee return processes proceeding in each country of the region without pressure from the international community.
Mesic said that Croatia had done a lot in facilitating the return of refugees and normalising relations with its neighbours.
"In addition to housing reconstruction, economic measures should be taken to encourage job creation in areas where refugees are returning and thus create conditions that will further facilitate the return," Mesic said.
Mesic and Semneby agreed that minorities must be well protected not only by law but also in practice in local areas.
The statement concluded by saying that Mesic had also had a regular meeting on Friday with ambassadors of EU member states and candidate countries.
