Congratulating Archbishop Uran on behalf of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Bozanic recalled the common religious roots of the Croatian and Slovene peoples. He said the feeling of unity among Slovenes and Croats did not exist only within the Church, but between the two peoples and states as well.
The Eucharist was attended by representatives of neighbouring countries' bishops' conferences, numerous faithful, religious dignitaries, and public and political figures, including new Slovene Prime Minister Janez Jansa.
