Sanader said that the meeting had not taken place today as expected because he had other pressing engagements and Mesic was in Osijek.
"We will try to meet tomorrow. We spoke on the phone. We made this decision together," the Prime Minister told reporters in the Parliament building.
Late last week Mesic signed a decision to relieve Josko Podbevsek of his duties as POA director for the way in which the agency had questioned freelance journalist Helena Puljiz, but Sanader refused to countersign it.
The parliamentary Home Affairs and National Security Committee has concluded from a report by the Office of the National Security Council that POA agents did not violate the law and that there was no reason for Podbevsek's dismissal.
After hearing the journalist, the parliamentary Human and National Minority Rights Committee found on Wednesday that the POA agents had violated her rights, and decided that parliamentary bodies had to review the harmonisation of the Rules of Conduct of Security Services with the Constitution.
