LONDON, Dec 2 (Hina) - The British Minister for Europe, Denis MacShane,on Thursday supported in principle the admission of Croatia to theEuropean Union, but also pointed out that the only remaining issue incooperation between Croatia and the Hague-based tribunal was the caseof the runaway general Ante Gotovina, the Croatian Foreign Ministrysaid in a press release.
LONDON, Dec 2 (Hina) - The British Minister for Europe, Denis MacShane, on Thursday supported in principle the admission of Croatia to the European Union, but also pointed out that the only remaining issue in cooperation between Croatia and the Hague-based tribunal was the case of the runaway general Ante Gotovina, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

In London, Denis MacShane received Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul for talks on the European Union's summit scheduled for 16-17 December in Brussels. Croatia expects to be given a date for the start of entry talks at the summit.

The British minister said that his country recognised and appreciated Croatia's efforts and results on the road towards the European Union, the ministry said.

The two officials agreed that Croatia had made substantial progress in meeting the Copenhagen criteria for EU membership and in carrying out reforms ahead of the start of the accession talks.

Minister Zuzul will fly from London to Brussels on Friday to meet the European Union's High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana.
