The conference is being held under the auspices of the Croatian government.
On behalf of the government the present were welcomed by Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship Minister Branko Vukelic.
The conference is attended by representatives of the Zagreb and Rijeka faculties of the economy and similar institutions from the United States, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro, Austria, Great Britain, Poland, Italy and Switzerland.
The Economic Institute Zagreb was founded in 1939 and is the oldest institution for economic scientific research in this part of Europe.
