ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - The presidency of the Democratic Centre (DC)
party on Thursday afternoon decided unanimously to give Mate Granic a
certificate terminating his membership in the party and to strip him of the
status of honorary party president. The decision ensued after the media reported that Granic promised a
German businessman of Croat origin, Ante Mrdeza, a place on the DC list at the
last parliamentary elections after the latter donated 100,000 euros to the
party.
The presidency also decided to press charges against Granic, a former
foreign minister, accusing him of abuse of office while he was the party's
president.
The DC will sue Mrdeza for slander, DC president Vesna Skare Ozbolt told
a news conference in Zagreb.
