Asked about the arrest on BK Television on Sunday, Draskovic also said the reaction was "inappropriate for a small and unnecessary political provocation," which he added had been prompted by Croatia's refusal to allow Serbian basketball player Milan Gurovic to play in Croatia because he had a tattoo of Mihailovic on his arm.
Stevan Vranesevic, Mirjana Djerkovic, and Danja Bozanic arrived in Zagreb yesterday as part of a group of some 300 students from Belgrade who came to see the "Dora Maar and Picasso" exhibition. At one moment, they separated from the group and photographed themselves showing a picture of Mihailovic. Some disgruntled citizens who saw this reported them to the police, after which the three students were arrested.
Today, Zagreb's Magistrate's Coirt sentenced Vranesevic to 15 and Djerkovic to five days in jail, while Bozanic was acquitted because it was not proved she had taken part in the offence.
"It shouldn't have happened. They shouldn't have been given prison sentences, regardless of their severity. I will do everything so the two are released as soon as possible," said Draskovic.
