"We are disappointed because reports on Sanader's talks in Belgrade made no mention of the agreement regulating the succession of the property of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) which clearly defines the obligations of the countries-successors on the restitution of tenancy rights. Croatia is the only one to shun the obligation of restitution of tenancy rights, which impedes the return of over 100,000 Serbs who used to live in such flats before the war," the daily quoted Brank Lubovac, a leader of a group of refugees from the Knin area, as saying.
"In Belgrade, the Croatian PM asked for support for efforts to solve the issue of 1,200 Croats gone missing in the recent war conflicts, and he forgot to say that another 2,700 Serbs also went missing when they were citizens of Croatia. It was, however, expected of some Serbia-Montenegro officials, whom Sanader met for talks, to highlight that difficult problem, as families of missing (ethnic) Serbs have been living as refugees in Serbia for over ten years," reads a press release of an association which searches for missing Serbs from Krajina.
The association also complains that no mention was made of refugees' rights, overdue pensions, the convalidation of years in service before and during the war in Croatian areas, or of Serbs' non-participation in privatisation of socially-owned property to whose accumulation they had also contributed.
