BERLIN, Nov 17 (Hina) - Germany will advocate that negotiations on Croatia's European Union entry begin no later than March 2005, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said during talks with Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader in Berlin on Wednesday.

Sanader is attending an economic conference for Southeast Europe which pooled prime ministers and high ranking delegations from the region, as well as top German Government and economy representatives.

Sanader said his talks with Schroeder were open and friendly, and that they focused on Croatia's expectations to be given a date for entry talks at the EU summit in December.

"Schroeder pledged Germany would fully support our expectations and insist that the date be set, as the European Council decided in June, for early 2005, which he and I agree can't be later than March 2005," said Sanader.

Speaking of bilateral relations, he said both sides agreed they were good, friendly, and constantly developing.
