The three-day conference was organised by the non-governmental association Brave Telephone (phone line for abused and neglected children) and the umbrella organisation of SOS phone lines for children from more than 80 countries -- Child Helpline International.
The conference, which pooled experts and volunteers from Croatia and abroad, will focus on the work of SOS phones in transition countries.
Last year, 30 percent of children in Croatia were exposed to some form of violence and 20 percent of children in schools in Zagreb were abused two to three times a month.
The conference is also attended by representatives of Child Helpline International, the UNICEF office in Geneva, and experts from Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Slovenia.
