The head of the UN mission is on a visit to Belgrade where he is scheduled to meet Serbian President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Vuk Draskovic and President of Serbia and Montenegro Svetozar Marovic and discuss the problems of Serbs in Kosovo. After the talks, Petersen will hold a news conference.
The Serbian government said in the statement that the foundation for the continuation of dialogue about that issue was the Serbian Government"s Plan and the Framework Plan of the UNMIK for Local Self-Government Units.
According to the statement, Kostunica and the head of the Coordinating Committee for Kosovo, Nebojsa Covic, stressed that Belgrade must be included in the process on an equal basis.
The Serbian government"s proposal foresees the decentralisation in Kosovo as well as that power be given to Serb in mostly Serb-populated municipalities.
According to the statement, Petersen and the officials in Belgrade also talked about other current issues, such as the protection of Serb cultural monuments and cooperation in numerous technical issues,
Kostunica called on the state official to meet on Friday and talks about Kosovo, the statement said.
The meeting should be attended by Serbian President Tadic, Serbian Parliament Speaker Predrag Markovic, Serbia and Montenegro Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic, and the heads of the Serbian parliamentary clubs of deputies.
