Croatian Television (HTV) reported tonight that the driver went missing from a U.S. convoy near Mosul, close to the Iraq-Turkey border, on Saturday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Dobroslav Silobrcic told Hina the information was being checked at the ministry's consular service and the Croatian Embassy in Egypt, which covers Iraq.
HTV said it was informed of the disappearance by the company the driver was employed with. The company declined to reveal the driver's identity.
U.S. companies in Iraq employ about 100 Croatian drivers, and about a dozen were in the convoy near Mosul, HTV said, adding the other Croatians in said convoy were fine.
