BUCHAREST, Oct 22 (Hina) - All Southeast European countries must make efforts to change connotations which go with the expression "the Balkans", Romanian President Ion Iliescu said at the opening of a ministerial meeting of the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Bucharest on Friday

"Regional stability is the responsibility of all of us, Euro-Atlantic integration is a big challenge, but also a big reward and Croatia is a good example of that," Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said in his speech. Sanader will sign a charter on good neighbourly relations, stability and security in Southeast Europe, by which Croatia will become a full member of the SEECP.

Romanian President Iliescu said that with Croatia's joining the SEECP and Moldova's becoming an observer in the organisation, the process should get a new name: The Central and Southern Europe Cooperation Process.

The Bucharest conference is aimed at launching a joint campaign for struggle against organised crime and launching a regional project which would advance the economic climate in countries in the region and help them draw closer to the EU, the Romanian president said.

At the end of the conference, the ministers are expected to adopt a ministerial declaration and accept Moldova as an observer in the SEECP.
