ZAGREB/ZADAR, Oct 14 (Hina) - Croatian Catholic bishops, who held their 29th plenary session in the coastal city of Zadar from 10 to 14 October, concluded, among other things, that "the relations between the Church and the state are stable, that agreements with the Holy See are honoured, although implementation of some segments (of those documents) encounters certain difficulties and administrative obstacles".

According to a press release issued after the Zadar session, Antun Suljic, the director of the Catholic news agency (IKA) and the head of the press office of the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK), submitted a report on Croatian media's coverage of the Church.

"During the debate it was concluded that an accentuated negative trend is evident in the media presentation of the Church as well as of all Christian values. Bishops call the faithful to testify about their faith through their lives as this is the only way to reaffirm the strength of the faith regardless of the biased and tendentious treatment of the Church in the media," the press release said.

The Croatian bishops expressed concern after they were notified of Cardinal Vinko Puljic's report on the position of the Catholic Church and the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina. They added that they would continue doing all they could to help Catholic bishops in Bosnia in their efforts to serve the Church and the people.

The next plenary session of the HBK is scheduled for 5-7 April in Zagreb. A regular meeting of Croatian and Bosnian bishops will be held in Zagreb on 24 January.
