"The agreement is a formal confirmation of what we have been doing up to now (...) and what we will be doing in the future," Morak said, adding that the two countries "are having a high degree of cooperation, but relations can always be better and more intense."
Biskupic described the agreement as "the product of good relations between the Croatian and Austrian governments."
He said that the agreement would help establish various programmes of cooperation and cultural projects, such as art exhibitions, archeological exhibitions, scientific cooperation and assistance in the conservation of historical monuments.
Biskupic said that agreements of this kind were very important to Croatia, "because we are a candidate for EU membership and want to introduce ourselves to Austria, to our neighbours and to Europe as best we can, so that we can also be recognised by our culture".
"Croatia has grown at the crossroads of Central European and Mediterranean cultures and will contribute to the European unity with its cultural heritage," Biskupic said.
