BANJA LUKA, Oct 16 (Hina) - After receiving a tip-off about Hague warcrimes tribunal indictee Ljubomir Borovcanin hiding in thenorth-eastern Bosnian town of Bijeljina, the local police on Saturdayblocked the town, conducting intensive
searches of persons, vehiclesand facilities, but they failed to find the indictee, the local PublicSecurity Centre reported.
BANJA LUKA, Oct 16 (Hina) - After receiving a tip-off about Hague war
crimes tribunal indictee Ljubomir Borovcanin hiding in the north-eastern
Bosnian town of Bijeljina, the local police on Saturday blocked the town,
conducting intensive searches of persons, vehicles and facilities, but they
failed to find the indictee, the local Public Security Centre reported.The operation, which lasted from 4.15 to 10 am, was ordered by the
Bijeljina District Court.
The police arrested Dragan Vasiljevic aka Vaske, who is believed to be
supporting the network hiding war crimes indictees.
Borovcanin is charged with participation in genocide, crimes against
humanity, and violations of the laws and customs of war.
He was commander of joint Bosnian Serb police forces taking part in the
take-over of the eastern town of Srebrenica in July 1995.
