ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Friday instructed the Office for Administration and e-Croatia and the Finance Agency (FINA) to complete a One Stop Shop project by December 15.

The system will make it possible for business people to obtain all necessary information and documents at one location, which will effectively cut time and costs, and reduce the possibility of corruption and bribery.

One Stop Shop services are expected to be available to entrepreneurs in the first half of 2005 and to the general public a year after that.

Services will be provided at 180 FINA offices throughout the country. FINA has invested 100 million kuna in the infrastructure and the training of staff for the purposes of the project.

Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said at the government session that one of the aims of the project was to increase the competitiveness of Croatia, and expressed hope that country's competitiveness ranking would improve by the next assessment period.

FINA Director Zoran Maksic said that business people cited red tape as the main problem. By way of illustration, he said that an entrepreneur needed nine different permits to set up a business company.

Later in the day, the Croatian Employees' Association (HUP) issued a statement expressing its support for the One Stop Shop project.
