The spokesman said the Croatian Democratic Union, which formed the incumbent Croatian government, and Janez Jansa's Slovene Democratic Party (SDS) which won the majority of votes in the Slovene elections, had good relations.
We are confident that outstanding issues would be solved bilaterally and if not then by international arbitration, Macek said.
He stressed Croatia and Slovenia are friendly countries and added that the Croatian government believed that outstanding issues could be solved very fast if both countries wanted that.
Commenting on an article published in the Financial Times according to which Croatia would not join the EU before 2011, the government's spokesman said Croatia would complete negotiations within the deadline -- 2007 -- after which the decision about when would Croatia join the Union lies on EU member countries.
