BRUSSELS, Oct 12 (Hina) - European budget commissioner MichealeSchrever in Brussels on Tuesday presented her proposals to thecommission for additional budgetary funds for 2005 earmarked aspre-acession assistance for Croatia,
assistance to the Turkishcommunity in Cyprus and for the peace process in Northern Ireland.
BRUSSELS, Oct 12 (Hina) - European budget commissioner Micheale
Schrever in Brussels on Tuesday presented her proposals to the commission for
additional budgetary funds for 2005 earmarked as pre-acession assistance for
Croatia, assistance to the Turkish community in Cyprus and for the peace
process in Northern Ireland.By receiving candidate status, Croatia has also received the right to
use EU pre-acession funds. In the pre-accession strategy the European
Commission has suggested that Croatia be granted EUR245 million from the three
pre-accession funds over the next two years. Next year Croatia will be able to
draw EUR105 million.
The European Commission is expected to adopt amendments aimed at
increasing the 2005 budget so as to ensure those funds, at its next regular
session.
