LJUBLJANA, Oct 4 (Hina) - The Slovene Democratic Party (SDS) chief, Janez Jansa, whose party won Sunday's parliamentary election and the most likely Prime Minister-Designate, has said that a coalition which will consist of his party and partner Democrat- Christian New Slovenia (N.Si) led by Andrej Bajuk, actually scored a convincing victory at the polls.

Jansa told a news conference in Ljubljana on Monday afternoon after the announcement of the first official incomplete results that it was very possible that ballots would be again counted so as to establish whether the Democratic Party of Pensioners known as DESUS passed the electoral threshold and entered parliament.

Jansa added that his party together with Bajuk's N.Si won a total of 366,000 votes, or by some 11,000 votes more than the coalition led b the incumbent Prime Minister Anton Rop, which gained 355,600 votes, according to the incomplete results.

Our victory is convincing if we add votes won by the Slovene People's Party, as the sum is 432,000 votes in that case, Jansa told reporters.

Commenting on a turnout of 60 percent of the electorate, which was described by some analysts as a sign of voters' abstention, Jansa said that this was a very good turnout in light of the fact that in May only 28 percent of Slovenes went to the polls to elect their representatives in the European Parliament.

The SDS leader said that it was still difficult to comment on possible post-election coalitions given that he had not yet talked with President Janez Drnovsek on the matter.

He added that he was open for talks with all parties on engagement in the future coalition on condition that they were willing to work for the common weal and implementation of a new policy.
