SARAJEVO, Oct 2 (Hina) - More than 4,000 polling stations opened at 7AMon Saturday across Bosnia-Herzegovina for the country's thirdmunicipal elections. By 19.00 hours over 2.3 million eligible voterswill cast their votes for more
than 27,000 candidates from 68political parties and coalitions and for 146 independent candidates toelect municipal councils and mayors for 139 municipalities in thecountry, the city of Mostar and the Brcko district.
SARAJEVO, Oct 2 (Hina) - More than 4,000 polling stations opened at
7AM on Saturday across Bosnia-Herzegovina for the country's third municipal
elections. By 19.00 hours over 2.3 million eligible voters will cast their
votes for more than 27,000 candidates from 68 political parties and coalitions
and for 146 independent candidates to elect municipal councils and mayors for
139 municipalities in the country, the city of Mostar and the Brcko
district.The October 2 local elections in Bosnia are the first such elections
solely organized and funded by the Bosnian government.
The cost of the elections is estimated to about EUR5 million
Polls will close at 19.00 hours today and the first incomplete
preliminary results will be announced at midnight.
The officials results should be announced within 30 days.
