ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana will hold talks with Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader in Zagreb on Tuesday on Croatia's relations with the EU after receiving candidate status in June. The talks will also focus on Croatia-Slovenia relations, spokeswoman for Solana, Cristina Gallach told Hina from Brussels on Friday.

The two interlocutors are expected to mention also the matter of Croatia's cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal.

According to Croatian sources, Solana should also meet Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul, who held talks ICTY chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte this week in The Hague.

During his tour of the countries in the region, Solana is scheduled to visit Belgrade, Podgorica, he was already in Ljubljana earlier this week.

Solana and Croatian officials will primarily talk about bilateral relations between the EU and Croatia, in light of the fact that Croatia is a candidate for the EU membership. the spokeswoman said, They will analyse the period since June and will talk about relations with the ICTY and the Croatia-Slovenia relations, Gallach said.

Jutarnji list daily on Friday cited its sources as saying that at The Hague's meeting with Croatian Foreign Minister Zuzul and Justice Minister Vesna Skare Ozbolt, chief war crimes prosecutor Carla del Ponte demanded of the Croatian authorities not only to invest more efforts in the search for General Ante Gotovina, but also to locate the country in which the fugitive general was hiding.

Even though Gallach confirmed that the talks in Zagreb would also focus on the latest incidents on the Croatian-Slovene border, she stressed Solana would give the same message as he did during his visit to Ljubljana.

Our position is that this is a bilateral issue which must be solved with dialogue, the presentation of ideas and proposals, Gallach said commenting on claims that Solana could be a mediator in the two countries' dispute.

Slovene Radio reported yesterday that Solana and an eminent retired Austrian politician, possibly Alois Mock, may be mediators in solving Croatia-Slovenia border issues.

All I can say is that Solana will offer his services but there is no need for mediation, Gallach said.

Solana will arrive in Zagreb on Tuesday morning. He will stay in Croatia for about two hours after which he will travel to Belgrade.
