Representatives of the consortium which is publicly promoted under the slogan "Treca Sreca" ("Third Time Lucky" in an unofficial translation), held a news conference in Zagreb on Tuesday to acquaint the public with its business plan if it receives the concession for the third mobile operator in the country.
The nine Croatian companies in the consortium are Dalekovod, Jamnica, FIMA Holding, the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company, Nexe Group, Konstruktor-Inzenjering, Lura, 'Institut gradjevinarstva Hrvatske' and Privredna Banka Zagreb (PBZ)
The Tele2 company, established in 1992, is currently operating in 24 countries and has 25 million users.
Agrokor Concern owner Ivica Todoric told the news conference that he expected benefits from the association of the Croatian capital and the Swedish strategic partners for all Croatian citizens and the national economy in general. Todoric added, however, that he was sad to see that only one bid had been sent for the concession.
Karl-Johan Nybell, a member of the Tele2 managing board, pledged that if this consortium were granted the concession, it would enable Croatian citizens to have lower prices in the mobile telephony.
The consortium also plans to employ about 200 workers.
The council of the Croatian Telecommunications Agency will consider by 18 October the offers it has received for concessions in mobile telephony, and on that day it will inform the public whether it has or has not decided on the third mobile operator in Croatia, council chairman Gaspar Gacina said on Monday.
