The protest rally, which pooled between 500 and 1,000 workers, was organised by the Croatian Telecommunications Union and the Republic Union of Post and Telecommunications Workers.
Croatian Telecommunications Union president Josip Pupc told the government that unions could not accept what Deutsche Telekom did to Croatian Telecom and stressed that great responsibility also laid on the government. "The government must understand that the redundant workers will not be able to find new jobs," Pupic said and added that the government, as the owner of 49 percent of the stocks, could influence the company's decision.
The government also made a big mistake by keeping four billion kuna of profit in agreement with Deutsche Telekom while the funds should have been earmarked for the development of Croatian Telecom, he added.
