Bijelic was born in Bribir near Skradin in 1930. A Zagreb Law School graduate, he was a company manager and a senior official in the former Yugoslav communist authorities.
After the political purges in 1971, he was excluded from the political and social scene.
In 1990 he was a member of the National Agreement Coalition and one of the founders of the HNS in October the same year.
He was a parliamentary deputy with two terms and a member of the HNS Presidency. He is the author of numerous publications.
