Speaking at the event, which started last Tuesday and ends tomorrow, Zagreb Mayor Vlasta Pavic recalled that Zagreb and Moscow signed an agreement on cultural cooperation three years ago.
Moscow Deputy Mayor Anatoly V. Petrov expressed satisfaction with the cities' cultural and economic cooperation.
Pavic thanked for the warm welcome she received in Moscow and Beslan, where she was invited as a sign of gratitude for the Zagreb city authorities' invitation to children from Beslan after the recent terrorist attack to come to recuperate in one of the Croatian Adriatic resorts.
This evening's ceremony was also attended by President Stjepan Mesic.
Moscow Days in Zagreb feature numerous cultural events, from a romance evening and the presentation of Russian fashion designers to an event marking the 100th anniversary of the death of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov.
The event ends tomorrow with concerts by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra with Pavel Kogan as conductor.
The Zagreb Mayor and Moscow's Deputy Mayor are expected to sign a declaration on the continuation of cooperation.
