ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - The strengthening of economic cooperation between Croatia and Hungary was the main objective of a Hungarian-Croatian business meeting held at the 80th International Autumn Zagreb Fair on Thursday.

The head of the Croatian agency for investment and export promotion, Igor Maricic, said the good bilateral cooperation was evidenced by the fact that Hungarian investments in Croatia in the last ten years accounted for 6.5 percent of all investments in the Croatian economy.

The head of the trade office at the Hungarian Embassy in Zagreb, Tibor Suelt, said both countries showed great interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation.

After the two countries signed a free trade agreement in 2001, Hungarian exports to Croatia were rising at the annual rates of 22-37 percent to amount to 424 million US dollars, while Croatia's exports dropped by one percent to 77.1 million in 2003 as against 2002, Suelt said.

Today's meeting attracted managers from 23 Hungarian and some 50 Croatian companies.

At the ongoing Zagreb fair, 26 Hungarian companies are presenting their products and services.
