The transfer of agriculture knowledge among CEI countries is particularly important in view of current changes to agriculture policy in the European Union, Slovene Agriculture Minister Milan Pogacnik told reporters at the end of the conference.
CEI Secretary General Harald Kreid said that the countries were currently cooperating on three agriculture-related programmes -- opening wholesale farm stores in Croatia, Hungary and Italy, a programme of loans to small farmers, particularly in Albania, and a programme of construction of small hydroelectric power plants using biomass for fuel.
Kreid said that the CEI had a fund for financially supporting the transfer of knowledge among the member states.
Other topics discussed at the conference included ecological farming, production of health and safe food, and applicable EU standards.
