CROATIAN HEAD OF STATE RECEIVES EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK OFFICIALS

ZAGREB, Sept 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursdayreceived European Investment Bank (EIB) vice president Wolfgang Roth,the President's Office said in a statement.
ZAGREB, Sept 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday received European Investment Bank (EIB) vice president Wolfgang Roth, the President's Office said in a statement.

Roth informed Mesic of the EUB's business activities and plans on investing EUR 300 in Croatia this year, mostly in banks but also in Croatian companies.

Also present at the meeting were advisors on the economic issues and foreign affairs, Dubravko Radosevic and Ivan Mastruko respectively, and the head of the Finance Ministry's Department for International Financial Institutions, Vlasta Hamer.

The EIB delegation also included the head of the department for Austria and Croatia, Franz-Jozef Vetter and the head of the department for Croatia, Fabio Bargagli-Petrucci.

The European Investment Bank has so far participated in the financing of a number of projects in Croatia. The Croatian Railways company received EUR40 million for the reconstruction and modernisation of the Croatian section of the pan-European VC corridor, HVB Splitska Bank was granted a EUR20 million loan for the financing of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, while the Plinacro company received EUR90 million for the expansion and modernisation of the Croatia's pine-line system.

The EIB is also participating in the financing of the Vc corridor, namely a highway which will connect Poland's Gdans, Hungary's Budapest, Bosnia's Sarajevo and Croatia's Ploce. The bank also plans to invest EUR60 million in the construction of the a section of the Zageb-Rijeka highway.
