The chairmen and members of parliamentary foreign affairs committees of Southeast European countries and European Union representatives expressed their solidarity with the government and people of Italy and other countries threatened by terrorism.
The joint declaration also mentioned Kosovo, saying that a solution to the issue of Kosovo should be based on full respect for human and minority rights in line with international standards and principles.
Addressing the forum, the deputy chairman of the Croatian Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee, Nikola Ivanis, said that "Croatia appreciates the efforts being undertaken along the Adriatic Coast to improve relations among Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania."
Ivanis said that the fight against international crime and terrorism contributed to the stability of the region and that Croatia would therefore continue its active role in the parliamentary forum.
The forum will continue on Tuesday with a discussion on the development of parliamentary cooperation among members of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and cooperation with other regional initiatives.
