The Croatian Health Ministry said in a statement that the session addressed, among other issues, a European strategy for noninfectious diseases.
The Croatian delegation was headed by the state secretary for health, Vladimir Bozikov, who presented Croatia's activities in the area of noninfectious diseases. Just like in European Union countries, noninfectious diseases represent the most important public health problem in Croatia as well.
Croatia is developing its strategic documents in the health sector and is on the way to adopting a health policy that would cover the period until 2015.
Croatia intends to implement a comprehensive strategy to counter noninfectious diseases and expects cooperation with the WHO in that area, Bozikov said.
The Croatian delegation at the Copenhagen event also announced that Croatia intended to ratify the Framework Convention on Tobacco Use by the end of this year.
