BELGRADE, Sept 10 (Hina) - By the visit of chief war crimes prosecutor Carla del Ponte to Belgrade, scheduled for October 1, the authorities in Belgrade must prove on a concrete example that they will meet their obligations towards the international community, the head of the national council for cooperation with the ICTY and human and minority rights minister, Rasim Ljajic, told Belgrade's Blic daily which hit the newsstands on Friday.

He said that by then the Hadzic case should be solved even though his whereabouts was unknown to the authorities

"I will give Vojislav Kostunica and Boris Tadic Carla del Ponte's messages that we must continue cooperating with the ICTY which implies extraditions," said Ljajic, who met ICTY president Theodor Meron and prosecutor del Ponte in The Hague several days ago.

"When it comes to Ratko Mladic, every day is 'D Day' for Serbia," Ljajic said and added that del Ponte told him "If you cannot arrest Mladic, if you don't know where Hadzic is, why don't you extradite generals? They are most definitely in Serbia".

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has indicted army generals Nebojsa Pavkovic and Vladimir Lazarevic and police generals Sreten Lukic and Vlastimir Djordjevic for crimes war crimes in Kosovo in 1999.
